Feeder - An RSS aggregator app

Let's talk about RSS, an old technology from 2000s era (cmiiw) that is not yet dead, but suffered from the massive growth of social media.

Personally I never knew about RSS before 2021 era, when Covid comes alive. In that period, I signed up for a bunch of old retro-tech forums.

And I learned about the etiquette of online communication and such. Anyway I don't want to go talk about my "harsh forums experience", because that is another topic for another post.

In modern browsers like Firefox & Chrome, there are no built in RSS Feed support because "it's old and nobody uses it".

For those who never use it, it's a news aggregator. So, it grabs post from a list of pages, and then convert them into a format that can be read offline.

I'm quite confused about how to explain it, so I'll just explain my experience using one of the feed aggregators in Android, called Feeder.

Appearance-wise, it does look good because it supports Material You design guidelines by Google. So, if you have Android 13 and up, it can follow the colour pallet of your phone.

As you can see in the picture above, there is post title, and featured images from a post included.

When you click upon a post, this is what you got.

Feeder is a great way to read posts offline. It will be automatically downloaded (including the images), and the next time you got no Internet, you can read it so you don't get bored.

And, if the reader somehow messed up with the formatting, you can always go to the original post by clicking a button in the upper right corner.
