Review Falkon browser

The Linux release of Firefox, Pale Moon, Chromium, all of them is made with GTK. Qt? Well, no one ever made a browser using it. Except some random dude that got free-time. But in the end, he handed the browser to KDE instead. That thing is named Falkon.

Falkon the bird. Yep. It has a purple-ish logo with falkon innit. This browser originally goes by the name of QupZilla, but they changed it to Falkon later on.

Home page look standard, it uses DDG as it's search engine by default. By the way, Falkon use a rendering engine called QtWebEngine, which is based on Chromium and de-googled to some extend.

Performance wise, it behave the same as Chromium; fast and lean but memory hog. But the memory thing isn't as big as the standard Chromium, so that's a plus. Unfortunately video VAAPI acceleration doesn't work, YMMV.

However, unlike standard Chromium which is regularly updated with Debian, Falkon backend does not. So, as the moment of writing, Falkon still use QtWebEngine that is based on Chromium 87, released in 2020. That's a long time ago. So be careful if you decided to use this browser.

Will I use this browser on daily basis? Probably not. But if I have to google something really quick, this lean browser will be used.
